Deeds & Dreams was originally conceived by Ron McAvan and Ron Taverner. They sought to establish a small charitable organization that would focus on kids and their families who were dealing with serious illness or disease. They envisioned a small charity that would help fill the gap created when many families were faced with these situations but did not qualify for traditional channels of assistance. Most importantly, they sought to create an organization that was responsive, capable of adapting to the varied needs of each child and their respective families without becoming mired into administrative costs and procedures.
The two Ronnie's then recruited 6 additional board members who shared a similar vision and became known as the ‘Bunch of Guys’. The Guys meet every few weeks throughout the year to review the progress of families we are assisting and to consider new families and their kids for future assistance. Every situation is carefully reviewed and each family is visited by at least two of our board members to ensure that their situation is in fact one that Deeds & Dreams can and should assist with.
